NO ONE LEFT BEHIND (2017 – 2019):
The project which runs from July 2017 – June 2019 seeks to enable children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus (SBH) and their families have the skills and knowledge necessary for fully participating in society, with emphasis on right to health and education. Grant for the project was provided by International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF) and International Disability Alliance (IDA) with three outcome areas as follows:
- Schools in target communities are inclusive of learners with disabilities
- DPO and its members promote and support inclusion of children with spina bifida & Hydrocephalus (SBH) in education
- Persons with SBH in target communities enjoy improved health and living conditions through life sills, continence management
Activities under the project are:
- Training of teachers and parents on SBH right to inclusive education, including accessibility, provision of support and reasonable accommodation.
- Continuous follow up with schools for support and implementation
- Parent training activities on SBH – and CRPD- related topics
- Income-generating activities for parents (i.e. suitability for school attendance)
- Training on continence management
- Life skills training for youths with SBH
